Dr. Jairam Ramesh, Minister for State, visited the SEWA Trade Facilitation Center on 13th of July to understand the activities done by STFC and SEWA Gram Mahila Haat.
Major objective of his visit to understand how the rural economic organizations initiated the commercial business ventures.
The Indian Market and economy is changing very rapidly. The world market have become one and local. Number of employment opportunities has been emerged and emerging, however the traditional occupation is also important.
SEWA Trade Facilitation Center is taking lead that how this scenario can become beneficial to the rural producers . How rural producers can enter into mainstream market, get the better and fare prices, and establish direct market linkages. STFC has rehabilitated thousands of artisans of desert , drought prone and earthquake affected artisans through their traditional skills of hand embroidery.
Dr. Jairam Ramesh has taken time to visit the state of art Common Facility Center at the Khokhara, Ahmedabad. He visited each department, i.e. Cutting, Stitching, Quality Checking, Finishing, and design cell and understood the whole process.
He also interacted with artisans from the desert region.
